Vivek Shanbhag writes in Kannada and has authored 13 books. He has edited two anthologies, including one in English, and was the founding editor of the literary journal “Desha Kaala.” His acclaimed novel “Ghachar Ghochar” has been translated into 20 languages and was named one of the year's top ten books by The New York Times and The Guardian, besides being shortlisted for the LA Times Book Prize. He co-translated U. R. Ananthamurthy’s “Hindutva or Hind Swaraj” into English. He is a Visiting Professor of Creative Writing at Ashoka University. Trained as an engineer, Vivek lives in Bangalore.
Deepa Ganesh was the Deputy Editor at The Hindu for two decades, and was with RV University in Bangalore as Professor of Literature and Executive Director of the Centre for Visual and Performing Arts. She has five published books: “A Life in Three Octaves: The Musical Journey of Gangubai Hangal,” “Hunt Bangle Chameleon,” “Just a Few Pages,” “Art as Life,” and “A Source Book of Kannada Theatre.” She has translated over 25 books for Tulika and Pratham publications, and is a founding member of Bahuvachana Publications. Deepa received the Sahitya Academy prize for her translation of U.R. Ananthamurthy’s stories and was the Editor of the Sahitya Academy’s English journal, “Aniketana.”
Shyam is an IT professional with over three decades of experience at a leading FMCG company. Following a distinguished corporate career, he joined Hyphen, where he brings his expertise in IT and digital technologies to support and strengthen its literary initiatives. A lifelong lover of literature, he considers it a privilege to combine his professional experience with a passion that has always been close to his heart.
Raj is a literary enthusiast and an avid reader. He supports Hyphen in several of its activities based on his project management experience. A Ph.D. in engineering, he has earlier served as a Business Leader and Chief Technology Officer in a premier engineering consultancy company. Currently, he also serves as an Advisor to companies and is a Professor of Practice at RV College of Engineering.
Somesh Kumar is an Editorial Designer and Illustrator. He also teaches courses related to visual storytelling, illustration, publication design, and basic graphic design principles at Design colleges. He is also pursuing work on his graphic novel, “Little by Little,” a memoir about growing up in different parts of Bihar.
Anjali Menon is a writer, editor and illustrator. She holds a bachelor's degree in visual design from Srishti Manipal Institute of Art, Design and Technology, and an MA in Media and Cultural Studies from Tata Institute of Social Science (TISS). Her interests span contemporary fiction, gender and culture, and cities, both imagined and real.
Harini Annapoorani is an engineer by training, with a fascination for stories, the ones on the page and those that live beyond it. She helps maintain the digital platform at Hyphen, handling behind-the-scenes production and operations work, with a growing interest in editorial. When she is not glued to her laptop, you'll find her curled up with a book.
Poojana Prasanna is a Graphic Designer, bookmaker and part-evaluator of the crunch of dried leaves. She holds an MFA degree in Book Arts from the University of Iowa Center for the Book. Much of what she makes — books, zines, prints, illustrations and digital design — explores how type and image manifest across mediums, tools and minds.
Fazil is an accounting professional with experience working abroad and handling corporate accounting and tax compliance. Over the years, he has gained experience working with businesses and navigating the financial side of corporate operations. His journey eventually brought him to Hyphen, where he found an opportunity to step into the world of publishing and contribute his professional experience to a project driven by literature, art and ideas.
Priyanka Rao handles Hyphen’s social media platforms, working closely with the design and editorial teams. She holds a bachelor’s degree in English from St. Xavier’s College (Autonomous), Kolkata. An ardent reader, she also loves music, going for walks, and watching the sunset!
Krishnamurthy T.N. is a cultural historian whose three-decade career bridges scholarship and practice across pedagogy, arts education, and public policy. As a lecturer and arts educator, he has pioneered a grassroots arts-integrated curriculum model within mainstream schooling, foregrounding knowledge systems long excluded by dominant pedagogy. His mentorship work is in the areas of regional histories and linguistic heritage.
Vighnesh Hampapura studied literature, creative writing, and translation from Ashoka University and Oxford, where he was supported by a Rhodes Scholarship. Until recently, he taught literature and music at Ashoka. His work has appeared in the Books & Ideas section of Scroll.in, Literary Activism, L’Indiscreto, Bhanuprabha, and the Women’s Studies Journal. He received a 2025 PEN Presents x SALT Shortlist Grant, and his translations of Vivek Shanbhag’s novel “On One Side, The Sea” and a collection of short stories by Vasudhendra are underway.
