Chandu Maheria is a Dalit writer, editor, journalist, and public intellectual based in Gandhinagar, Gujarat. A longtime organizer and activist, he has played a key role in bringing Ambedkarite thought, Dalit literature, and caste politics into public discourse in Gujarat. As editor of the influential fortnightly Dalit Adhikar, Maheria helped foreground Dalit issues within mainstream political debate. He has published over a thousand columns and essays across major Gujarati newspapers and journals. His books include “Sambarada thi Swaman Nagar”, a socio-political history of Dalit forced migration in Gujarat; “Dr. Ambedkar”, a study of Ambedkar’s philosophy; and “Chotaraf”, a collection of political and social critique.
